Academic Transfer

The Transition to UNL

Resources for Nontraditional Students

At UNL nontraditional students define themselves. Some are older than the typical college student, while others consider themselves nontraditional because they have significant responsibilities for family, work, or community that compete with education for their time and resources. While many transfer and nontraditional students live off campus, you are especially encouraged to find your personal connection to the campus.

Personal Challenges

  • Women's Center
More than a safe, comforting place to hang out, the Women's Center has programming to assist women with a successful, positive college experience, and to help everyone in the UNL community understand the changing roles of women and men. They host events, workshops, support groups, and counseling for students on a range of personal issues and often host a Nontraditional Student Group. A Victim Advocate provides services for victims of sexual assault, stalking and relationship violence.

  • Lincoln Area Agency on Aging
The Lincoln Area Agency on Aging is the principal Agency which plans, coordinates and advocates for older people in our eight county area. Our mission is to enhance daily living, expand personal choices, and educate the community in an effort to ensure the independence and full life of the people we serve.
